Hello and welcome back to the third edition of LINZ International Short Film Festival. It's not hard to see, we are online this year and within the next minutes we want to introduce this format to you so you can feel closer to us and we can feel closer to you. We will be chatting about everything short film related, about this year's film selection of course and much more. Today in the studio with me is Parisa Gassimi, our festival director and soul and heart of the festival. Parisa, would you like to introduce yourself? Yeah, thank you. Hello everyone, thanks for watching us. I'm Parisa Ghasemi, the Linz International Short Film Festival director. I'm also a filmmaker myself and I have studied film in Art University of Tehran. And I just finished my master in time-based media at the Art University of Linz and I am really passionate about film and cultural exchange, so I am here. Thanks. My name is Malis Hainal. I've been part of the festival for the last three years. This year I'm working in the Department of Public Relations. We are shooting at KunstUni today and we are very happy about all the opportunities KunstUni Linz, the University for Industrial Design, is giving us. The same goes for Land Oberösterreich and City Linz. Without them we couldn't be the platform for filmmakers that we are today. Also a heartfelt thanks to our partners Radio Froh, WKO, DorfTV, VDFS, Verwertungsgesellschaft für Filmschaffende und Kupf Oberösterreich. The year 2020 poses new challenges for all of us, especially festival directors all over the world. How did you come to the decision to hold an online edition and not just cancel the festival? Ja, cancelling the festival wasn't an option at all because i think now especially in this year we need networking platforms more than ever because we are losing many of our traditional face-to-face interactions. So we decided to do the festival online, but not just screening the movies, but also having like kind of exchange between filmmakers and the audience. For example, in our festival lunch where you can go and chat about every film, every film slot. And we also put this, our film selection in curated film slot so it can bring a little bit the festival atmosphere in your home. And there are also panel discussions or another program to make it more like a real festival. Now we come to the real reason of the video. We want to present this year's film selection. Until May 2nd, short films could be submitted to our Filmflavor platform. The maximum length was 20 minutes in the categories Animation, Documentary and Fiction. documentary and fiction and this year there was a big surprise for us and that was the explosive increase of submissions we started with 775 films last year and went up to 3405 films this year. That means an increase of four times as many films as in 2019. Maybe Parisa wants to tell us something more about that.
