This is a dance band, so you are invited to dance. Just do whatever you want. Don't be afraid of looking silly. You will look silly. But, you know, it's a festival. Everybody's drunk, so let the beast go. Also, if it means that you have to move the chairs out of the way, you get the permission, okay? So just move them away and start a crazy dance party. I get the feeling this will get crazy. Now the official part of the announcement. I would like to start, if it's okay with you, with a short poetry fragment. It's very short. Are you yawning? Music is a love beast. A sky dragon, a snake, a hummingbird, a crocodile. If you put your ear close, you will hear something. Words by the mighty Joe McPhee. One of the true masters of the universe universe and he's here and playing tomorrow. And those were the first words that popped into my head when they walked up to me yesterday and said, hey you also want to do a announcement? I was like, oh yeah of course and then you're like oh shit it's like 400 people and I don't know anyone well a few so I was thinking of Joe McPhee and also about music and what it means nowadays can already mention that it's it's a bit of a difficult time for for most of us you know stuff, crazy stuff is happening in the US. Even crazier stuff is happening in Gaza. And it stinks of fascism in Europe, in my opinion. I can smell it in Austria. I can smell it in Belgium, where I'm from. I can smell it in Poland, in Hungary, in Holland, in Germany. Italy. I don't know if you can smell it in Norway because they have Paul Nilsson Love and he's like kicking holes into the stage. And, you know, people run away when they see that. But anyway, Paul Nilsson Love is the boss. Okay, you're getting in the mood. I can feel it. Anyway, I was thinking like many of you about music and the different roles and functions it has. And I think different times are good in a sense, in the sense that you reflect more about it and realize that music is many things. It's a reminder of beauty or cooperation. It's an indictment, it's a call for action it's many things and well ken already told you but it's also a game changer in many ways when ken's friendship with john corbett led him to Mats Gustafsson and many European players. It started a whole new life for him, I guess. A European chapter. Well, I have also a story like that. Because if it weren't for Kent Vandermark, I wouldn't be here. Because he was like my introduction, my gateway to a whole new generation of improvisers. That's what music is. It changes stuff. Now I get to the most important part. I also have this little story about the next band you're about to see. I saw them in February in Belgium in a city called Ostend. You have to visit it someday. It's really nice. Christina knows all about it. And it was also a kind of a game changer. I don't know how it is with you, but in February, I'm usually like, I'm grumpy. You know, it's post-winter stuff. I'm like, screw the world. Screw people and fuck fascism, you know. And that's how I went to the concert and was like oh yeah it's Paul Lutz's love it's gonna be energy but anyway the concert totally transformed me in a way it's changed me and how? do you know Funhouse by the Stooges? or Double Nacles on a Dime by the Minutemen or Ask the Ages by Sonny Sherrock or Wrong by No Means No Do you know Funhouse by the Stooges? Or Double Nacles on a Dime by the Minutemen? Or Ask the Ages by Sonny Sherrock? Or Wrong by No Means No? Or Stardust Alternators by The X? Those kind of records, they make you want to do something, and I get excited just thinking about it. And they make you want to go out there and, I don't know, dig a hole and fill it up again, or set Spotify offices on fire, or cop cars, or whatever. But they make you want to do something. And the concert by the next band had a similar effect. And because the saxophone and trumpet, they were like the marching bands, but not from New Orleans, but from a city I haven't visited yet. Or there was this propulsive, throbbing rhythm section, bass and drums, and a vocalist. There was what? Yeah, yeah. There was what? Yeah, yeah. And Kalle Möberg with his accordion, he's like slicing through the music. And Juliana Wendt, I saw her once, and I became a fan for the rest of my life, probably anyway. So that was really cool, and I maybe realized at the time, whoa, music can do this. It's something really cool. And I went home, and I wrote about it. I wrote a review about the time, whoa, music can do this, it's something really cool. And I went home and I wrote about it, I wrote a review about the concert saying, you know, it's really cool to once in a while get a reminder of what music can achieve and how it can change stuff and how it can be a ritual and a feast and a reminder and a call to action, and whatever. And I hope that you all have a similar experience. I was dancing. In my case, that means moving my hips six to eight centimeters. I hope you'll be more expressive. I can't see anyone in the audience here. It's like a black thing. But I hope you will all be dancing when I'm entering the venue again. It's the end of my long-winded story. One more thing. Misha Mengelberg, the great Misha Mengelberg once said, music does not exist. At most, it's an illusion. Well, if an illusion can make this happen, you here, me here, and the whole team here, and the musicians here, then I hope that we will have some more cool illusions tomorrow and next year. So, I'm very happy and delighted and honored and I will get the fuck out now. But here, finally, finally, here's our present or the festival's present for you. Paul Nilsson Love, Circus and the Three Stooges. That was quite a speech, quite an introduction. Thank you, Guy. It does smell in Norway. But we did this line-up, this version of the circuscus Band in March with the X Guitars and we recorded and things take time but there will be a CD and LP out in March. On that album there is a surprise for you and Joe McPhee. Speaking of Joe, there's a brand new LP. Please buy it because I've got a big bill to pay. Enough of that. Before we start, I would also like to thank Music Unlimited, Wolfgang, for asking Ken, and Ken for asking us to perform. And it's a fucking amazing festival, amazing program. One big family. Thank you so much. So the way we do this is that anyone can play any part of any song at any time. There's no set list. The only thing we know is that Signe and I will start off, and then we'll see where it goes. In the band, Thomas Johansson. Signe Emelut on saxophone. Arnold De Boer on vocal and guitar. Andy Moore somewhere on guitar. You can smell him. Christian Leo Svensson on bass. Terry X, you can't smell him, on guitar. Juliana Venter, vocal, Calle Mubarque, accordion. I think that's it. Thank you. ¶¶ ¶¶ Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry. ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ © BF-WATCH TV 2021 ¶¶ ¶¶ Hadi bakalım. Altyazı M.K.
