The American Pronunciation Guide Presents ''How to Pronounce The Band'' The band you're about to see has been around for 45 years. And you probably know that, but I thought that, well, yeah, we'll celebrate. That I might tell you a few things that you maybe don't know yet about the band. I have a small list. I won't take up much of your time. No worries. A name they considered for themselves was Sucking Pig. Before they thought of The X. They never became Sucking Pig, but they have a song that's called Sucking Pig on the first album. And I'm really, really happy that I don't have to announce a band called sucking pig the first concert they played was on the 31st of August 79 was any of you there I don't think so but anyway there was a guy who actually reviewed it in a punk fanzine and he said, all the songs started really slow and became fast and I really thought that the slow parts were too long and the fast parts were too short. I don't know if that says anything about the state of music journalism in Holland, but it never got any better. Also, do you have any idea how often they played in Austria, the eggs? You want to guess? No? 40 times. In the ranking of countries where they played, that means Austria is situated between Canada and Ethiopia. Could be worse. could be worse. When we're talking about cities, the city of Wales is in the spot number 12, you know, this is worldwide. They played here 14 times. I think we have to thank Wolfgang for that. That's pretty cool. Something else. A few years ago, Terry X sent an email to Peter Hamill to thank him for the inspiration because he bought a Guild S300 guitar because Peter Hamill was using it. Maybe you know it, but old corpses smell the same, an old vinyl single, and scrabbling at the Lockport titles that they basically stole from Peter Hamill and Terry told him and he said yeah thank you Peter for providing all the inspiration and Peter actually sent a reply and it was good to hear from you and good connections. That's it. Arnold de Boer, the latest member to join the band. He played 650 concerts with The X, yet they call him the new guy. Cat's favorite food is pancakes. Yeah, yeah, we're about to start. No worries. If time travel was possible, I would go to 1928 to be there when Mississippi John Hurt recorded his first songs. Or I would go to maybe 79 to check whether the slow parts were really too long and the fast parts were really too short. But I would also go to Chicago in 2001 when the X played a triple bill with Shellac and Fugazi. Someone, a good source who prefers to remain anonymous but might have curated this festival, told me that they absolutely killed it, and I'm inclined to believe it. There's a snail named after the X. It was found by Professor Daniel Geiger in 2000 off the coast of Easter Island in the sand, 20 meters underwater. Dr. Geiger is an X fan. I'm almost at the end, no worries. Terry X was named after Terry Gibbs, a jazz vibraphone player. He just turned 100 years old a few weeks ago. And Terry and Terry are Facebook friends. Our Terry only has one guitar. In Ethiopia, they call it Lucy. And that's because... I'll have to check it. Lucy was walking the Earth 3.2 million years ago because she was a female of the hominin species called Australopithecus afarensis. They're saying that the skeletal remains of Lucy are in a better shape than Terry's guitar. And now really at the end, they also have a ranking of all the people that played with the X. And on the first spot is a dancer called Mila Kubilay that says a lot about this band. On spot number 8 is Ken Vandermark with 93 concerts. And 94 will come really soon. That's about it, I guess. Two years ago I had a talk with Steve Albini and he told me, you know, The X is my favorite band in the world. And I believed him because it's also my favorite band in the world. And you're also gonna see that band tonight. So before we start, I can put away my phone. I only want to do one more thing. I'm going to give away two singles. I didn't steal them. I bought them. But I think that music should be shared and passed on. So I'll put them here. If the budget has been tight this week, grab one and play it and have fun. Ready? Okay. Now comes a very, very, very special and important moment for me. I hope you will like it. Christina, are you ready? We ask for your attention. The Axe and Friends. Thank you. We're The X. Very happy to be here, amazing festival. We have 10 new songs and we're gonna play them one after each other. guitar solo Be, be drums Blow, do goes blow Be, be drums Over the road Be, be, drums Over the road Beep, beep, drums Before the judge Beep, beep, drums Into the judge Beep, beep, drums Blow while they blow No bargain day No broker's home Beep, beep,, oh why that blow? We'll be right back. MUZIEK APPLAUS Bedankt. APPLAUS Bedankt. guitar solo There should be no trees in the open sea Neither rooftops, neither cars There should be no spirits rising from the deep waters Out of bedrooms, kitchens, cellars There shouldn't be water here at all There should be no trees in this blazing heat Neither houses, neither cops There should be no soul-sorring from bedroom sellers There shouldn't be fire here at all I get desperate I feel the wild washing of death Escaping surface Blood can't gasp And fall back I get desperate Blood can't gasp and fall bright I get desperate Blood can't gasp and fall bright There should be no trees in the skies above Neither houses, neither cars There should be no sorcerer from bedroom status There shouldn't be cyclones here at all I get desperate I feel the whitewashing of death Escaping surface Plugging gas before breath Under the spread Plugging gas before breath We'll be right back. We'll be right back. guitar solo?? Danke sehr. Nächste Lied ist The Evidence. It's on one side of the new 7-inch. I'm in a white room They told me all in here I've been in love I'm in a white room They told me all in here I've been in love I'm in a white room But I don't see them Maybe they forgot I'm in a white room They told me all in here I've been in love I'm in a white room But I don't see them Maybe they forgot Has everybody been in love? Has everybody been in love? A love that has been threatened? Has everybody been in love? Well, not as I see it. Not on the basis of the evidence. If everybody's been in love, if everybody is love, they would treat each other differently and look at each other differently. The evidence I don't see the baby, baby I don't see the baby, baby I don't see the baby, baby I don't see the baby, baby... Someone you see is also you. Someone you meet is also you Someone you meet is also you You can be that person, be that monster, be that cop That in yourself you decide not to be And that's what people should realize And everybody should know We'll be right back. Thank you. Sharp ceilings carry a spider and let her go Shouts and gobs oppose the crying stones The levity of the fly, the rules that wear only one day life She says, what happens when I do this? The moment it catches someone's eye despite its sensor and vibes Would you not come back to the village and join the safety of the web? See events and days, today is only the first in a few days Today is twinkling and twitches, only silence and the door staff Thanks to his, the walls whispering about how she spoiled the ointment Did you see the island filling tanks as the refugee on the wall? The spider says, I will make a divine magnetic web With the lifelong love of comrades Well, they start to say the name, they in, they out Once he waves and waves the waves the waves the waves well the lovely of the fly the roos of our only one in life bye bye spider everything will change overnight We'll be right back. Thank you. guitar solo This sun is to stay, then we know what is happening Our friends will be vanished, it's what we're expecting This sun is to stay, we know what needs to be done You will know what we did and what we did wrong This sun is to stay, And we know what is happening. Our pride will be vanished. It's what we're expecting. This sun is to stay. And we know what needs to be done. You all know what we did. And what we did wrong. This sun is to stay. And we know what is happening. Our pride will be vanished. It's what we're expecting. This sun is to stay. And we know what needs happening Our prayers will be vanished It's what we're expecting This song is to stay We know what needs to be done You will know what we did And what we did wrong This song is to stay That we know what is happening Our prayers will be vanished It's what we're expecting This song is to stay We know what needs to be done You will know what we did and what we did wrong We'll be right back. Thank you. Thank you. guitar solo guitar solo What could I keep inside? Something like a circuit breaker of soul So I won't blurt out my thoughts And reveal all of my feelings What could I keep inside? Something like a die that never rolls So I can't get unlucky And get a curse on my soul What could I keep inside? Something like a wildflower bouquet So I'll never ignore a gift And I will never fear my doubts What I will carry inside Will be an ever-glowing heart To chase all hatred away So I don't have to live like a rat and die What could I keep inside so I don't have to live like a rat and die We'll be right back. Thank you so much. We are so happy to be here at the Unlimited Festival, which is such a great festival. Definitely my favorite, I think. We have such a good time, and it's such a lovely crew, and thanks. Thank you for everything and also all the people of course who make this festival possible. It's such a great thing that is to happen. It has to happen. It's so important that we have this unlimited space to create. I look outside and everything is changing Something new wants to break through the lines There is no stopping it The world has lost its grip Reality is shifting There's no stopping it, the world has lost its grip, reality is shifting, there's no escape. I have to dive deep to know my own truth and trust my own way. Always my destiny lies in my own loving hands And the wheel of life spins always It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on I look inside and everything is changing Something new has to break through the night There is no stopping it The old person lost his virginity This ship has no escape My inner true core Is showing itself And will guide me well Always My destiny lies In my own loving hands And the wheel of life spins Always It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on I spent all of this. In England and on and on and on. Structures are failing and boundaries are fading Something new has to break through the lines There is no stopping it The old has lost its propriety It's shifting, there's no escaping Your life force unfolds For those who flow With a song of their souls Always Your destiny lies In your own loving hands And the wheel of life spins Always It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on It's spinning on and on and on and on Thank you. Thank you. What if the singing's not? I'm getting dressed and close and asked The people all ask me who died And I said it's who are dead It's time to reverse the time Today, tomorrow, tomorrow's dead It's time to reverse the time Today to mourn, tomorrow's dead It's time to rebuild the art So we'll never need to use it in the end It's time, the time, the time To turn and go ahead It's time, the time, the time To turn and flip my legs It's time, the time, the time You took me up an hour We ran and we jumped And we took the last toll Lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost, lost It's time, the time, the time To turn and go ahead It's the time, the time To turn and play my last It's the time, the time We're rolling with our hands It's the time, the time To fight, to fight and fast It's the time, the time To turn and go ahead It's the time, the time To turn and play my last It's the time, the time You took me up and down While we ran and we jumped And we took a left turn I ddweud wrth fyny, mae'n amser, mae'n amser I chi ddweud wrth fyny, mae'n amser Rydyn ni'n rhaid i ni rannu, rydyn ni'n dod i'r gwaelod Las, las, las, las, las, las Las, las, las, las, las, las Las, las, las, las, las Las, las, las, las, las Las, las, las, las, loss, loss Loss, loss, loss, loss, loss Loss, loss, loss, loss, loss Loss, loss We'll be right back. I'm out. Loss, loss, loss, loss, loss, loss I saw our house, or not our house, but the one we used to rent and share Floating together with ten multicolored bathtub ducks Counting nine to zero, nine, oh, two, one, oh, I saw them in the rain The river took them all on the road, but not the river but the stream The overflowing waterway from the place we used to swim and play In the rain I saw a giant heater handing out a laugh The valve of a bell burned a hole in the floor Took the guard and the pavement and our furniture for punishment In the rain I saw a sheep heathen handed an hourglass The mouth of another fell, burned a hole in the floor Took the guard and the pavement and our furniture for furnishment In the rain I saw a sheep littering upon a hill Farming lettuce, lettuce that works saying You are not the world In the rain I saw the blood of the fat Cow-poor, big-toe, big-toe, big-toe Cow- map Got four big, tall things on the level Got the means of fucking the whole town Flaming around like a family helicopter Driving the blood of a gold card shopper Over the line of random kids on track In the rain, in the rain As I'm going, you can let go And, love it, love it, love it I'm on in the front, looking out in the neighborhood In a minute of a fucking time In the rain, I'm up here Flaming around with cow shit You need the right my fucking mind In the rain, I'm coming here, coming in on the cow shit You need the right time straight In the rain, in the rain I saw a million dollar power on the fishing boat I'm going to be the value for a better future Your future, bloody children in the rain It was never you or your husband It was always everybody in the place Better leave the Nazi dealer out of the way In the rain, who needs you great When you're gonna put him in a wetsuit He's no Jacob with pockets of cancer He's just happy to see you Come on, man, to get, come on, man Take a bet in the party, yeah! It's like a running blaze and a pain And a flash of lightning on a wound A flicker on a heart, a blister on a cloud The respects of dust, blacks on the dirt Dying spots like rocks on a blanket We've done it in its own time Making the streets of the garment of death, We want nightmares, we don't choice the nightmares, Here are the dynamics that spoil our tea, Must be the reason why people eat meat. Great is the great ones, these great break, break. It's like a running blaze of the pain And the flash of lightning on the wound A flicker of the heart, a place to run A candle with sparks of dust, flames on the dark Ninety sparks, nine bombs on the blade The group got a limit, it's five by five Making the switch from the dominant dance We got nine men, we have a choice of nine men The argument limits, it's part of our key Must be the reason why people eat meat Women's Club at 5.
