"In the car with Helena" zeigt Elisa Andessner und Helene Vodopija während einer Autofahrt zum Fotoshooting für „Solidarity (Neuništiva Sablast / Indestructible Appearance)“. Es handelt sich dabei um eine Fotoarbeit von Elisa Andessner in Kooperation mit der in Pula lebenden Anthropologin und Kulturarbeiterin Helena Vodopija. Ausgehend von Vodopijas Konzept einer „Solidarität durch Theorie“ und Andessners Interesse am Thema Solidarität wurde Catherine Malabous Negierte Lust. Die Klitoris denken als zentrale Referenz gewählt. Der Text kritisiert die historische Unsichtbarmachung der Klitoris im philosophischen Diskurs und entwirft ein neues Verständnis von Körper, Sexualität und Subjektivität.
Ausgewählte Textpassagen wurden mittels Tattoofolie auf die Haut der beiden Frauen übertragen, einzelne Wörter zusätzlich auf Protestschilder geschrieben und in ihre Frisuren integriert. Mit Kostümen und Tattoos, die an Zirkuskünstlerinnen um 1900 erinnern, Make-up im Stil der Punks der 1980er-Jahre und Haarschmuck, der Rokoko-Perücken zitiert, entstehen „undefinierbare Kreaturen“. Diese unterlaufen tradierte Weiblichkeitsbilder, verbinden unterschiedliche Frauengenerationen und stehen für Widerstand, Selbstbewusstsein und Solidarität.
Zeitgleich zur Entstehung der Arbeit wurde in Amsterdam erstmals ein 3D-Modell des Nervengeflechts der Klitoris entwickelt, während entsprechende Daten zum Penis seit Jahrzehnten vorliegen – eine Synchronität, die die Aktualität des Projekts unterstreicht.

"In the car with Helena" shows Elisa Andessner and Helena Vodopija during a car journey to a photo shoot for “Solidarity (Neuništiva Sablast / Indestructible Appearance)”. This is a photographic project by Elisa Andessner in collaboration with Helena Vodopija, an anthropologist and cultural worker based in Pula. 
Drawing on Vodopija’s concept of “solidarity through theory” and Andessner’s interest in the theme of solidarity, Catherine Malabou’s *Negated Pleasure: Thinking the Clitoris* was chosen as the central reference. The text critiques the historical erasure of the clitoris in philosophical discourse and proposes a new understanding of the body, sexuality and subjectivity.

Selected passages from the text were transferred onto the skin of the two women using tattoo foil, whilst individual words were additionally written on protest signs and incorporated into their hairstyles. With costumes and tattoos reminiscent of female circus performers around 1900, make-up in the style of 1980s punks and hair accessories evoking Rococo wigs, ‘indefinable creatures’ are created. These subvert traditional images of femininity, connect different generations of women and stand for resistance, self-confidence and solidarity.

At the same time as this work was being created, a 3D model of the clitoris’s nerve plexus was developed in Amsterdam for the first time, whilst corresponding data on the penis has been available for decades – a synchronicity that underscores the project’s relevance today.
