Die Kamera folgt ihr, wie sie bei anstrengenden Trainingseinheiten das Letzte aus sich herausholt, daneben für ihr Medizinstudium lernt oder wegen Corona per Bildschirm mit einer Freundin kommuniziert. Während im ersten Teil des Films die Entbehrungen, die das Leben einer Spitzensportlerin ausmachen, im Mittelpunkt stehen, tritt nach einer großen Enttäuschung der Mensch Marlene stärker in den Vordergrund und lässt die Zuschauer*innen besser verstehen, was sie antreibt.
